Capital Works / Civils

Owing to the weight of the deck (41t) and the reach necessary (38m), a 1,000t crane (LTM 1800 supplied by Ainscough) was employed to lift the deck into position.

The Pandrol track fastenings were attached to the bridge prior to the possession to save time during the installation phase.

In removing the existing deck, a free edge was created to the existing deck which needed to be supported along its length with steelwork which was welded to the existing troughing.

Benfits / Project Outcome

The bridge abutments were waterproofed and backfilled, and the area was handed back on time.
