Contract Start and Completion

August 2019 – February 2020

Cleshar employed Leca® LWA instead of more traditional, less sustainable backfill materials. Leca® (Lightweight Aggregate Expanded Clay) is created by transforming 1m3 of freshly dug clay into 5m3 of lightweight expanded clay aggregate construction material. By combining the All-in-One features such as being durable, strong, lightweight, water absorbent and recyclable, Leca® LWA benefits the environment, limiting resource requirements and improving our living and working conditions.

We also used newly trialled standard solution reinforcement materials for movement joints within the capping slabs. These allowed for construction/movement joints to be pre-made through our supply chain therefore reducing durations required for site installation and inspection.

Benfits / Project Outcome

Works were delivered safely and in a well-timed manner to allow various disciplines to follow on and carry out their works without causing unnecessary delays. Giving our client confidence in our abilities as a trusted contractor for LUL and TfL.
