Edgware Road Footbridge
The Project involved the complete design and build of a new footbridge over the railway tracks linking the 1st floor of Griffiths House to island platform 4. The project also involved the demolition of an existing bridge during a weekend possession.
Scope of works
The design was particularly challenging as the substructure at both ends of new bridge required full analysis of existing situation and innovative solutions. At the station platform end, existing support steel work was exposed and strengthened. At Griffiths House, cantilevered support steel work arrangement was designed to utilizing the weight of existing building to support the new bridge.
A steel footbridge was fabricated and installed over railway tracks to the island platform. The bridge is supported by a concrete filled trestle on the platform and cantilevered from the steel frame on the side of the building.
