DLR West Route Re-Railing Project
Cleshar completed the DLR West Route Re-Railing project within a blockade between Shadwell, Limehouse and Westferry Stations and covered approximately 2,500 metres of track.
Scope of works
The works included moving vast volumes of materials including circa 600, rails, 30,000 rail pads and 60,000 clips and nylons.
Innovations
The blockade was a great success, the team faced challenges such as the site being located on an elevated railway, near residential areas with particular sensitivity to noise and in addition the site was adjacent to the Network Rail infrastructure with 25Kv AC Overhead lines. Extra consideration was taken with regards to health and safety and noise pollution.
Benefits / Project Outcome
The works was achieved on time, within budget and to a very high standard.
