Contract Start and Completion

October 2019 - December 2019

Due to the location of the retaining wall (adjacent to a live operational track and the public/road users) the delivery method and access requirements for the works had to be carefully planned.

A propriety barrier system was used to segregate the worksite on the roadside of the wall and scaffold was then erected on the trackside to enable daytime working which maximised programme efficiency.

The wall was carefully de-constructed in stages to mitigate the risk of collapse due to the instability of the brickwork. The copping stones and fencing were recovered for reinstatement, and bricks were salvaged. In addition, we worked with various suppliers to carefully select bricks to match the existing finish and profile of the wall.

Benfits / Project Outcome

As a result of the thorough planning and consideration given by the delivery team to working within a high-risk area, the scope of works was successfully delivered safely and within the allocated budget & programme.
