As a Principal Contractor with an in-depth understanding of the railway industry, we tailor our services to meet the requirements of our customers to ensure they receive the highest quality of service from initial enquiry to successful completion.
We design and build trackside buildings, depots and sidings to accommodate rail staff and trains facilitating the increased capacity demands. From large scale station modernisations to the construction of new build multi-storey lineside buildings, Cleshar’s capital works division has a track record for successful delivery.
Through partnering arrangements and traditional contracting, we serve both public and private customers in this sector for refurbishments, modernisations and new build contracts and offer a complete service including design capabilities.

Working as principal contractor, the works involved extending the existing depot shed by 30m to accommodate 3-car length trains. The existing track fan to the east of the depot was stripped out and re-laid to a new ballasted track design.

This contract comprises the enhancement of the Network Rail tracks at Richmond Station (platforms 4 to 7).
The works involved the detailed design and implementation (GRIP 5-8) of new train arrestors and track renewal, including signalling to platforms 4 to 7.

Cleshar managed the design and construction of the new 10 road sidings including a turnout from the mainline and a crossover between the existing mainline tracks.
The works contained over 3.5km of track with associated points and lubrication system to facilitate the new permanent way.

As part of London Tramlink’s Wimbledon Line Enhancement Programme (WLEP) to increase the capacity of the services and ease passenger congestion.
Cleshar was appointed as principal contractor to carry out two packages of works at Wimbledon Station Platform 10 and the Beddington Lane to Mitcham Junction section.
BMW Plant at CowleyReplacement of holding down fastenings to both Line 21 & Line 40 and renewal of part of the rails to Line 40.
